Hello everyone

Hope this finds you well? I am delighted to share with you that I will be teaching at the Lady Anne’s Needlework Festival in Appleby, West Morland, Cumbria UK, 4 – 17 July 2021. Appleby borders the Lake District, home of Beatrix Potter. a fantastic opportunity to visit to this heavenly part of the world?

This festival is hosted and organized by Phillipa Turnbull of the Crewel Work Company. Phillipa is renowned for her stunning Stitching tours and retreats and this is the first of its kind, involving international tutors. What I love most about Phillipa’s festivals is that she believes in combining work with pleasure – classes are from 9.30am to 4pm leaving plenty of time to socialize with other students, catch up on stitching or do some exploring after class – bliss! There are also plenty of excursions arranged in between classes. Di Van Niekerk, Hazel Blomkamp and I are already planning our trip from South Africa and looking forward to catching up with tutors from other parts of the world and meeting students in person.

I would love you to join me for two weeks of embroidery heaven in this beautiful town.  The UK is easily accessible to most parts of the world including, USA, South Africa and Europe so lets meet half way across the world and have some fun?

You can find more details on the event or access a PDF of the full programme here.

I will be teaching three workshops:

Two day class Needlepainting NasturtiumIntermediate level

This is the ideal project for those who have a little previous experience to study the art of Needlepainting, in particular long & short stitch shading in more depth. The simplicity of the flower elements allow for simple shading with a dramatic effect.

Three day class Needlepainting TulipAll levels

This is one of my favorite designs. This 3 day project allows plenty of time to work at your own pace and absorb yourself in the use of dramatic shading. We will also cover how to make your embroidery pop by using contrasting colours and simple outlines.

Two day class Whitework Tudor RoseAll levels

In this class I will show you my simple way of creating beautiful raised satin stitch and how to use outlines to define your embroidery. A relaxed project with stunning results.

I very much look forward to meeting you in person and hope to see you there.

Till next time, wherever you are in the world, keep smiling and happy stitching!

Trish
